During the current health crisis posed by COVID-19, Kumar has taken steps to ensure the safety of its employees. All corporate employees that work in Kumar offices, and subsidiaries, have been requested to work from home. The company also halted production at two of its manufacturing sites to minimize any potential contamination that could jeopardize employees and their families.
However, manufacturing locations still in operation are those that produce antibacterial and biocidal ingredients, which are needed now more than ever, to help combat the progression of this virus across the globe. In the facilities where production is continuing, Kumar has enacted strict social distancing rules and decreased staffing to the minimum necessary to continue operations.
"As production has been halted in the two manufacturing plants, we are somewhat limited on the ingredients we can provide to our customers right now. Kumar is making it a point to prioritize production to our antibacterial ingredients that go into soaps, cleaners, and sanitizers," the company said in a statement. "In fact, we are now focusing once more on triclosan, an ingredient that we’ve held a competency in for over the last 15 years, but which has witnessed a decline in recent years. The efficacy of this product at combatting harmful pathogens is one that can’t be ignored at this time, and we’ve seen a surge in demand due to this virus.
"Kumar is meeting the threat of COVID-19 head-on, and all of our branches located throughout the world are following recommendations provided by their respective governments. We hope to continue supporting our customers and meeting global demands for anti-bacterial ingredients to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of people the world over."
