Comments: Corporate sales fell 3.4% last year. Home fragrance sales fell due to the temporary closure of all North American Yankee Candle retail stores. Stores didn’t reopen until the third quarter. In addition, the company suffered from supply chain disruptions due to the temporary closure of its manufacturing facility in Massachusetts. The company also suffered from the temporary closure of certain third-party retail stores in the first half of 2020. Finally, home fragrance sales were negatively impacted by the permanent closure of 77 underperforming Yankee Candle stores.
First quarter corporate sales rebounded 21.3% to $2.3 billion and company executives forecast core sales growth of 5-7% for the full year. The home solutions segment, which includes home fragrance, reported a sales gain of nearly 34%.
For 2021, Yankee Candle rolled out its new Signature Collection with completely redesigned modern vessels and 10 new, collection-exclusive fragrances, alongside more than 30 tried-and-true favorites.
“Working alongside trend and fragrance experts, we developed the collection to reflect what our new and longtime customers are looking for when selecting candles for their home,” said Anna Whitton, VP of marketing for Yankee Candle Company. “The sleek, new vessels, available in multiple sizes, offer beautiful designs and a wide variety of fragrance options to help create everyday moments that are worth savoring.”
The Signature Collection has premium soy-wax blends and double cotton wicks, creating a cleaner burn and strong, long-lasting scent.
